New Thrift Store Will Benefit Hospice Patients And Their Families

San Luis Obispo, CA – Hospice Partners of the Central Coast is pleased to announce the April 14th opening of Hospice Partners Hope Chest, a 5000 square foot thrift store at 445 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo. All proceeds from the new store benefit hospice patients and their families "Community support has always allowed us to provide end of life care based on need rather than ability to pay,” said Hospice Partners Administrator Janet Jeffrey. “With an average daily census of 148 patients on service with us, Hospice Partners Hope Chest will be an important part of our efforts to continue to support the uncompensated cost of care."

Retired health care administrator Gill Blonsley will serve as General Manager with well known local merchant Pam McKiernan as Assistant Manager. The store will offer highly selective merchandise at traditional thrift store prices and is currently accepting gently used clothing, shoes, linens, house wares, furniture, small appliances, dishes, jewelry, books, and sports equipment. The store cannot accept computers or TVs. Hospice Partners Hope Chest will be open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm with merchandise donations received from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm only. Phone 545-5955.

According to Jeffrey, nearly 70 people have volunteered to work in the store so far. "It doesn’t surprise me," she added. "This community always rises to the challenge, especially when it comes to helping a neighbor."
